Weight Loss Through Resistance Exercise

If you are trying to lose weight, you need to be informed on how
lifting weights can maximize fat loss.
Most people know that aerobic exercise is an effective weight
loss tool, but don't realize the importance of resistance
exercise in the battle of the bulge.
Let's compare muscle tissue to a sponge. The muscle
absorbs, carbohydrates, fats, and nutrients. As you squeeze
or use the sponge (muscle), the more energy and nutrients
are depleted. Dipping the sponge repletes it. In the case of the
muscle, it absorbs energy and nutrients from the blood in
between exercise.
The key is, that as the muscle absorbs fatty acids from fat
stores, for replacement of muscle energy, the body releases
fat from your body to refill these stores. Thus you lose body fat.
With this knowledge you should know that your fat loss goal
could be best realized by using a weight light enough to allow
you to perform 20-25 reps per set with some difficulty. In other
words use low weights with high repetitions.
This will aid in depletion of muscle energy and the more
muscle you involve, the more energy you will deplete, and the
more fat you will lose. This is based on volume of work
performed as opposed to intensity of work.
There are many ways to accomplish this workload. Body/Spirit
