Managing Spirit by Patti Helsten Petrella
Each of us, may be here on earth for many diverse purposes and we all have different talents to achieve our potential. One objective that we, perhaps, all have in common is How we direct and manage our spirit.
How we align our spirit with the divine is one way to think of how we are managing our spirits. We can choose the positive or shadow side of this experience. If we choose the shadow side, we may find that it has a great affect upon our physical & emotional health as well as our spiritual well-being.
Some wonderful books by Caroline Myss on this subject, include; The Anatomy of the Spirit & Why People Don't Heal And How They Can. She explains the importance of reclaiming your spirit, and how your biography becomes your biology.
Using Caroline's analogy of spiritual and energetic currency: If you have 100 units of spiritual currency and you spend 125 units a day on fear, anger or unloving and unforgiving thoughts, then soon you will dip into your creative, emotional and physical resources to finance these destructive energies
Do you finance unforgiving thoughts with your spiritual currency? Or do you build your reserve with love and kindness?
Every time we hang on to old wounds, enmity, grudges, or other negative emotions, we can't help but lose emotional and creative energy. It is very draining to not forgive, forget and let go of the past.
What causes us to lose control of our spirit?
Is it as simple as a driver cutting you off? A snub from someone? A critical remark? Think about it. Do we lose spiritual energy to such insignificant everyday events? Where do we lose our spirit? In anger, guilt, revenge, pettiness and selfishness?
Do we lose out spiritual energy to the past or to our fears? The past is gone and over, but we still finance it with destructive memories and obsessions.
Did someone say or do something to you that you still haven't released emotionally?
If so, old emotional wounds may be taking precious spiritual currency resulting in physical energy loss and, maybe, even loss of health.
If we learn from mistakes, negative situations may become positive.
Do we want to interact with this world having only learned from the shadow side of life?
Isn't it more beneficial to surrender to love, rather polluting the world and our lives with contention and conflict.
Toxic emotions can take their toll not only emotionally, but physically. Everyday science learns more and more about the damaging toll negative emotions can take on our health. While conversely, we have experienced or heard about the healing powers of positive thoughts, prayer and meditation.
If we learn forgiveness and compassion, when others have hurt us, then we have grown spiritually, gained positive healthy reserves of energy and management our spirit.
