Spiritual Wings by Patti Helsten Petrella
Consider the analogy of the caterpillar developing into butterfly when thinking about growing spiritually. The butterfly must struggle to be released from its cocoon, and this struggle is absolutely necessary for the butterfly's survival. If it doesn't experience this extreme effort, it will not live.
Another interesting thing about the butterfly is that it is the only living being that completely changes its entire genetic structure when it transforms from caterpillar to butterfly.
Like the butterfly, our conflicts in this life strengthen us in our spiritual transformation. What might seem to us to be needless pain or heartache in this life is actually an essential part of spiritual transformation. Without struggle, we, too, might not evolve and realize our divine potential.
opportunities in life in which to be transformed, instead of facing our experiences with anxiety or fear.
Our transformation, like the caterpillar, strengthens us into leaving our limited mindsets in which we struggle, so that we may soar through our life courageously.
